Moving on up!

Washington, D.C. is no stranger to movers and shakers. And  Capitol Hill is now considered to be the second best city for movers.

Last year, 12 percent of Americans changed residence. The nation’s capital had 229,856 out-of-state movers come to the city.

Only New York City saw a bigger moving crowd, at 263,030.

One of the primary factors for the moving rate is jobs. Washington, D.C. has one of the nation’s lowest unemployment rates, at 6 percent.
