D.C.-area veterans are getting help from Operation: Opportunity, a Hilton Worldwide initiative to offer jobs to veterans. The hotel chain said it plans to hire 10,000 workers over the next five years.
The program will also provide donated HHonors points to vets for free hotel stays. Hilton said the points can be used for job searches at Hilton properties or outside companies.
“Hilton Worldwide has been strongly committed to supporting military veterans and their families since our founding nearly a century ago by Conrad Hilton, a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War I,” Hilton CEO Christopher Nassetta said in a statement.
In addition, Hilton will start offering a new military rate next month. Guests with a valid military ID can receive up to 15 percent off at its hotels.
